Capturing the Joy of Reunions: From High School Nostalgia to College Connections
Capturing high school and college reunions are truly unique. The blend of nostalgia, excitement, and that electric energy when old friends reconnect after years apart is a blast to witness. Whether it's a lively party in your old high school gym, a casual day at the local golf course, or an elegant celebration at a destination convention center, we’re there to document these unforgettable moments.
Recently, we photographed a high school reunion held in the same gymnasium where the attendees once cheered for their teams and danced at homecoming. Picture this: strings of twinkling lights hanging from the rafters, old yearbooks scattered on tables, and the school mascot standing proudly in the corner for nostalgic photo-ops. We captured everything from candid shots of classmates reminiscing over old photos, to groups recreating their favorite yearbook poses. There were moments of laughter, surprise, and even a few happy tears. It’s always special to see how people have changed—and stayed the same—over the years.
Then there was a college reunion we covered at a local golf course. The event started with a relaxed afternoon of golf, where old brotherhoods and rivalries were rekindled with good-natured banter. Our goal was to capture the lighthearted competitiveness as well as the camaraderie—those moments when someone sinks a long putt and the entire group erupts in cheers. Later in the evening, the reunion moved to the clubhouse, transformed into a cocktail lounge with a live band. We shifted our focus to the dance floor, where familiar tunes from their college days brought everyone back to their carefree youth.
We’ve also worked at large, destination-style reunions held at convention centers or resorts. These events are like a hybrid between a reunion and a mini-vacation, often spanning several days with various activities. From formal dinners and dancing to daytime excursions, our job is to be everywhere at once, capturing the essence of the weekend. During one such event, we set up a photo booth where attendees could dress up in themed props and snap fun, spontaneous pictures. The highlight, though, was the grand group photo at the end of the evening, a huge snapshot of hundreds of alumni, arms around each other, proudly representing their class.
No matter the setting—whether it’s a gym filled with balloons and banners, a golf course under a perfect blue sky, or an upscale convention center buzzing with excitement—our approach remains the same. We focus on capturing the genuine connections, the rekindled friendships, and the joy of old memories coming to life again. The small details, the big laughs, the hugs that last a little longer—these are the moments that make reunions so special, and it’s an honor to capture them.
